Elimination/All You Need Is......LBC Post

Today is my birthday and as I write, all I have to say is that the days, the nights the weeks - they all come around way too
fast.  Last week, I got a request to do a review of a Hindi movie.  No, the filmmakers weren't exactly handing out free tickets, but they wanted bloggers to blog about this movie and as the theme of the movie was peace, I thought I should do my bit for Mother India or Bharat Mata as she's locally known.  My country-in-law, so to speak.  So blog I did on the basis of seeing the movie trailer and hearing the music.  And somehow the whole thing coincided with my LBC post, which I missed out on doing.    The post for which I'd suggested the topic. ELIMINATION was the topic and all I have to say is, how in the heck did I come up with a name like that for a post? Could it be because I have two kids who've just done their examinations.  My son has done his Class 12 examinations (School Leaving) and my daughter has just done her Class 10.  My daughter will now progress towards the Class 12 exams and my son has to try for admission to college.  So depending on the results, even the slightest half mark could result in his elimination from the list of candidates for a particular course.  I'm hoping and praying my kids get great results and that my son will get into a course he wants to do.  So it's a hard time for us as a family.

So what is elimination?  You could look at this topic from several viewpoints. My take on elimination is that it is the process of the removal of competition.  Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This week's topic is courtesy of the wonderful and erudite blogger from the USA, Shackman.  And the topic is: All You Need Is.......shades of the hippy of the Beatles are coming back to me as I write.

Hence the photo of hippy woman playing music.    All you need is love,  say the Beatles.  All I need is the air that I breathe, say the Hollies.  So what does one really need? Apart from food and a roof over one's head and an education?  All I need to feel absolutely fine is a stack of books to read (including the Bible) and plenty of music to listen to as I go about my work and I'm sorted. I might need a computer to write with, but  I know how to keep myself amused and can spend hours on my own, happily and contentedly. I haven't watched television in months.  Haven't missed it either. And that's about it, really.

  1. Erudite? Geeze - I've never been called that before. :) I have always been able to spell it - being a good speller is a benefit of being an avid reader.

You got it - I was fishing for the difference between want and need - and elimination of waste (as in wasted effort - LOL) - see - I can link the last two topics too.

  2. Happy Birthday, Maria! I hope it included cake.

  3. Better late than eliminating the topic itself. And a decent job too. On all you need is.... love and fresh air has caused more problems in the long run for couples in this world than anything else that I have known and I have seen too many of such relationships flounder on sheer economics.

  4. Hope you had a lovely birthday.

  5. Interesting and informative post!

  6. Happy Belated Birthday Maria. I hope it was an amazing day! Praying your son gets into a good college. I wanted to share a little of my heart with you today...something my new young foster son wrote me on Mother's Day. What a day!

  7. Shackman - Erudite you are, like it or not.

Grannymar - Thanks for thes good wishes. I didn't have a piece of cake, but the Indian equivalent.

    Rummuser - Thanks. So True.

    Patsy - Thank you.

    Kelly Steel - Thanks indeed.

Lisa Petrarca - Thanks so much Lisa for your prayers. Going there now to your link.

    Kathy Gori - Thank you.

  8. It is my first time i visit here. I found so many entertaining stuff in your blog, especially its discussion. From the tons of comments on your articles, I guess I am not the only one having all the leisure here! Keep up the excellent work.
